i’ve drawn her as the disciple a few times a long time ago, but the only a1 character i have drawn is horuss. i kind of dislike a1 characters intensely on principle because they added 12 inconsequential, redundant members to an already bloated cast and it took over a month to get through those damn detour flashes about their personal dramas. i would have liked them maybe (cronus excluded) if they had a purpose that could absolutely not be filled by any of the existing characters—being redshirts doesn’t count as a purpose—and if there were fewer of them.

that being said i like the ancestors still, and their stories in a2 are much more interesting to me than a1. i will probably never draw meulin but i will draw the disciple as many times as u want

nah, the red stuff is just regular animal blood. red nepeta’s ancestor is the sufferer. i was pretty lucky that her sign is so similar to karkat’s—in this continuity it still signifies the cuffs, it’s just that he managed to break one of them in this version.

i just rigged the ancestors to their original blood colour instead of their original descendant. they’re all exactly the same as they were in canon, just with horns and some features changed to make them resemble their new descendants a bit more (no sex/gender changes though). that’s what i’m working with right now anyway. kind of considered just straight ports absolutely nothing changed though, because it would be funny. for example equius’ ancestor, who looks exactly like nepeta, is making out with nepeta’s ancestor, who looks like karkat, who was shot and killed by karkat’s ancestor, who looks like equius. sollux’s ancestor is using an apparent clone of him to power her ship. feferi’s ancestor (a vriska lookalike) has banged a variety of different people, which includes some nonconsentual love from gamzee’s ancestor (a kanaya lookalike), and no matter which way you look at it that is totally 6ross. very awkward!!

in my head i like to think she was the one that kept the rest of them out of trouble by having an innate ability to lie and cheat the shit out of everyone, having been the former rogue of heart (“heart” being a truth/judgement thing much like the “light” aspect is actually all about fortune instead of holiness or energy—based on the gods’ heart-weighing ceremony the egyptians believed you went through after death, which is also what that symbol is by the way, it’s the ib heiroglyph). she was a wealthy merchant when she joined them, and since the rest of the group was composed of two fugitives and casteless scum, they relied a lot on her for buying food and lodging and keeping people off their backs. might have traded on the black market and with pirates a bit, just when absolutely necessary you understand, and come on nobody’s perfect (she and mindfang used to be best buds before the scratch, maybe she just missed her old friend somewhere deep down ): ). her job meant she probably had a better life than most olivebloods could hope for, but money can’t buy everything, everything meaning civil rights and freedoms.

she gave up whatever she did have after the execution anyway. her status was a means to an end (the Truth) instead of a life goal, and now that her friends were gone she didn’t need it anymore. so she stripped off all her clothes and wrote on cave walls for the rest of her life i guess.

so i just wrote condensed ancestor fanfiction, cool beans!! just kinda wanted to think of an origin for her so she’s not mostly a lovestruck tag-along.
