I MEAN GUYS HAVE YOU EVEN SEEN THIS
WHAT IS THAT I DON’T EVEN
EEL LARVAE ARE THE COOLEST THING EVER IT IS OFFICIAL

Eel larvae are also a billion dollar industry, and make up a large percentage of the fish market. Nobody knows exactly where/how/under what conditions eels breed in the wild, so the only way to sustain the eel industry is to collect these larvae from the oceans after they are born. There has been some progress in eel farming, but not enough to meet the massive consumer need. Not sustainable, as you can imagine.
Eels, both larva and adult, are pretty fascinating. To learn more about the culture and mythology surrounding eels, I’d really recommend you check out the book Eels by James Prosek. I read it last month and I learned a lot.

I love eels you guys
Watch that video they’re fantastic
