oh but i do remember, in the beginning… you know how you can’t take like two steps into the tumblr fandom without running into a wall of NAUGHTY SHIPPING FANART? it was not always so. in its infancy the fandom was concentrated in the official forums (did you even know there was a forum? have you ever checked? i would not blame you if you didn’t) and there was a specific, heavily moderated shipping thread. this was the only way to get your shipping needs and it was very chaste. as in i once drew this one picture of two characters who were just like, looking at each other lovingly as one of them strokes the other’s face, and i was scared to post that to the romance thread because there was a real fear that it would go over the line and i’d get banned or warned or something. because of leg placement? idr. so i posted it on +4chan’s /pco/ board instead, because at that point in time the homestuck thread on /pco/ was mostly just another chaste romance thread with occasional discussion about body type headcanons and biology. MY KIND OF THREAD.

don’t go to /pco/ now though because much like the rest of that board, it is more or less a cesspool, and you can find superior naked pictures on tumblr anyway if you are looking for them.

anyway. ANYWAY. there was one user who drew a lot of gory pictures, eyes5, which were mostly pretty tame compared to modern homestuck standards except for one eyegouge picture that still haunts my nightmares. i think she might have also been one of the first to draw erotica. these images were circulated underground because they were too naughty for the forum and /pco/ of all places did not want them and there were frequent fights about the content of her fanart. i believe they were used as shock images for a while. there was actually a mailing list dedicated to these pictures. as in, you had to sign up and eyes5 would email you the good stuff whenever she drew a picture. because it was THAT UNWANTED.

then 4chan general threads and mspachan started up the porn engine. and then tumblr came along. and here we are today.
