omfg. omfg. I LOVED THAT TOY
some girls had beloved childhood teddy bears. some girls had dolls or dinosaurs or whatever. i had a falconzord. i slept with stuffed animals beside me like any other kid and i kind of pretended to favour the whale i had, but the toy in my heart was always the falconzord. i think i had it by my pillow too but i couldn’t hug it like a normal toy because it was angular and made of plastic.
power rangers oc what a nerd
it… it wasn’t like that… it only LOOKED like a power rangers oc. i could go into actual fancharacters i had for various shows/books/video games as a small child but this is enough for one day
what did the first version of your oldest oc look like? c: (assuming you kept them around)
OK, I’m going to answer this completely truthfully, and therefore, this answer will be literally the most embarrassing thing I’ve ever admitted to in a public space, or possibly to anyone, anywhere, ever. I could easily be cyberbullied into oblivion for this. Because, you see, I can’t just give you a picture I drew when I was 11 of like, a catgirl in a fucked up Sailor Moon ripoff costume and say “yeah this is my oldest sordid secret.” One, because I never actually drew any furry-esque characters, ever (they were shapeshifters/werewolves at that point in time, thank you very much) and as a child I was much more into ripping off Pokemon than Sailor Moon. Two, because the true origin of my oldest character still in use goes back so much further than that.
If I could find it I’d take a picture of his origin, because I’m sure it’s still hiding somewhere in the basement. It’s not a drawing. It’s a White Ninja Falconzord toy from the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers.
Anonymous asked you: whats a story you want to tell, but for whatever reason, probably won’t be able to / ever get around to?
I had another story a few years back that got put on the backburner because I couldn’t get a coherent plot together. I called it Down and it concerned a group of people stuck in servitude to the very rude god of the underworld, who promised them their lives back if they completed all the tasks she set out for them. If I were to go back to it today I think she would have designed the tasks for petty revenge against some other gods for being forced to do what amounts to a divine desk job, and her revenge would go horribly wrong at some point, and that would be the plot. Originally I was running with a deep sea theme but somehow it morphed into bees and flowers by the end of its run. None of the characters were based off specific flowers or insects the way everyone in Corvus is based off birds but they were totally worker bees and the Demiurge was the queen and the Netherworld was shaped like a hive. I realised while sitting on the bus planning what to write for this ask that there is a horrible, horrible birds and the bees pun nested in these two stories I have developed and the revelation has just ruined my life.
There were three main characters and my favourite was Nessa (pictured). She was the youngest kid in her family by several years and had four older brothers. Her parents had been high school sweethearts who married when they were like 20 and did not regret the decision; they built a tight-knit and loving family who worked hard and tried their best to support each other however they could. Because she grew up in this sort of environment Nessa was basically the heart of the team in the Netherworld and a bastion of stability, and without her the other two would have fallen apart early on. She was one of those class clown types who were not very academically gifted but were funny and personable, and she was a drama kid who practiced ballet and aspired to be a stage actor or comedian. She died when she was 16 in some sort of undisclosed accident.
I cannibalised a few things from this story to use in Corvus and I think I would probably have to build it from the ground up again if I came back to it.
I can’t fucking breathe. Holy shit. This is basically my entire personality and interests in a video. I will never recover from this.
I can’t even pretend for a second this isn’t something I would do lol
How did I not know you liked mushishi dnd kaiji so much
you watched them before me and are kind of the reason why i did haha. i finally got around to watching kaiji a few weeks ago but i probably wouldn’t have if it wasn’t for you
kids on the slope was pretty good tho im not sure its in my top 5 either. top 10 for sure tho
yeah!! i’d also probably put michiko e hatchin and maybe silver spoon in top 10, pudd only streams the best of anime. mayyyybe i’d put gurren lagann in top 10. i don’t know. i am sure of the first 5 rankings but it gets blurry after that.

no but i considered it at one point
webcomics u read???
Here’s the ones I read that are ongoing and still updating (most of them update at least once a week too) in no particular order:
Cucumber Quest (#1 in my heart), Bad Machinery, Gunnerkrigg Court, Paranatural, Poppy O’Possum, Vattu, Monster Pulse, Nimona, The Abominable Charles Christopher (best read archivally imo), Broodhollow, A Ghost Story, O Human Star, TJ & Amal, Unsounded (on end-chapter hiatus, will resume March 31), Love Me Nice (updated whenever the author has time in her schedule)
The last five are labeled NSFW but so far A Ghost Story and Love Me Nice (iirc) don’t actually have anything I’d consider NSFW in them. The others definitely do—O Human Star and especially TJ & Amal have The Sex, Unsounded has some really gory parts and the occasional uncovered boob—but I think they use these scenes well and it doesn’t feel gratuitous. Broodhollow is a horror comic but I honestly don’t remember if there as anything NSFW in it at all, but I don’t think there was.
Bobwhite is a slice of life comic about art college kids from the same author as Monster Pulse, which she finished before moving onto Monster Pulse. I found Pandemonium/Wizard Village after it ended but it’s good. Hemlock might still be going on but I am not sure, and same with Necropolis, which is too bad because it is/was only getting started. The Meek is almost certainly defunct, but I think what’s there is still worth reading. Witchy and Brainchild are new comics that look really interesting. I know I’m forgetting some lmao because I don’t check up on them as often/they don’t show up in my tumblr feed. IT’S HARD TO KEEP TRACK OF THEM ALL I READ A LOT OF WEBCOMICS
whats ur favorite anime
Favourite movie is Tokyo Godfathers, favourite childhood anime/guilty pleasure is Cardcaptor Sakura. I fully believe in my heart of hearts that I have excellent taste in chinese cartoons and that you should watch all of these
edit: fav non-anime cartoon is steven universe, im putting this here because i love steven universe and im so glad it exists and i want people to know that
i love bloodbent but i dont know what to ask, so ill ask you to tell us more about maroon kanaya and her fashion choices(/culture??)
She isn’t from a separate culture from the others. Her home is in a forest outside the metropolis, so she is for all intents and purposes a standard terrestrial person and living closer to the cultural centre of the world than about half the cast. Equius is (currently) probably the farthest away from society, though he didn’t start that way, he just uprooted his entire house at one point and started traveling around the northern deserts and shrubland. Sollux is the most isolated since he can’t actually leave the bottom of the ocean and he’s got a super thick + genuine pelagic accent to prove it and it probably makes him almost incomprehensible while yelling over the mic in video games. I am just not going to mix it with his existing typing style because his existing typing style is already annoying enough. As an aside, I want to believe this accent sounds like a Newfie accent, so this is now officially bootleg canon if I hadn’t said that before. Tavros has it too and occasionally tries to put on a landdwelling accent since most of his friends are landdwellers and seadwellers tend to hate him, but he is very bad at it.
Kanaya’s clothes are different than everyone else’s because they are historically accurate designs based off clothes people wore like a thousand sweeps ago. She is basically a person walking around in full renfaire costume for no reason other than that she can. Accuracy is important to her and she might not be very fun to watch historical movies with because she would pick them apart and get mad at them when they deviated from her understanding of The Facts, but she will take liberties in her own work if asked to (i.e. Feferi’s costume). She does know her shit though, I don’t want you to get the impression that she is not a walking encyclopedia of days gone by, because she is, but I also don’t want the impression that she’s entirely humourless and unwavering about it. There is probably no one in the world who is a bigger nerdlord than Kanaya Maryam and if there was, she would probably fight them for her right to keep the title.
have you come up with all the lusus designs yet? i remember ones like sollux's and terezi's but i'm having trouble remembering the others
i did, i think i streamed all of them except for maybe karkat’s and feferi’s a million years ago? kanaya’s and eridan’s lusi already shown in-story and feferi’s swamp monster would be coming up very soon. i don’t want to bother searching through awful old art to find every lusus i have drawn but i do remember tavros’ shark and i still like these pictures enough to link to the post they are in.
i got another ask about this so i’m going to redraw all of them and put it in a longpost, but here is a bad drawing of eridan on his noble steed in the meantime
